How is the pre-filled parquet composed?
As we saw at the beginning of this article, pre-filled parquet is not composed of a single layer of wood, but of several layers glued together, to ensure durability and stability. The layers can be two or three :
Noble wood layer: layer that is walked on, as the name implies, is composed of noble wood such as oak, elm, and teak and many others. This layer can be 3 to 5 mm thick luxury vinyl flooring in Flint, MI.
Support : it is the least valuable lower layer, usually composed of wood derivatives or, in the case of sustainable parquet, of recycled wood. This layer serves to give elasticity to the pre-filled parquet board.
Counterbalance : the counterbalance is the layer positioned on the back of the board, which serves to give greater stability to the parquet. The counterbalance is present only for the “Three layers”.
There is also the variant in pre-filled solid wood, whose planks are made entirely of noble wood, but it is not so widespread due to the lower stability and the price almost equal to the classic solid wood.
The advantages of pre-filled parquet
Cheaper than traditional parquet : thanks to the fact that it is not composed only of noble wood it is obviously less expensive than solid parquet;
Faster to lay : as we have seen, thanks to the fact that it is treated and finished in production, laying is very fast (and even less expensive);
Easy to clean : the pre-filled parquet has a much more resistant varnish and consequently turns out to be a less delicate parquet than the classic one, which is why it is much easier to maintain and clean;
Of equal beauty compared to traditional parquet : thanks to the upper layer of noble wood, the pre-filled parquet is as beautiful as a solid wood parquet.
The pre-filled parquet boards
The pre-filled parquet boards are called “Planks” when they have large dimensions, “Plancette” when they have medium dimensions and “Strips” when they are small.
The pre-filled parquet have the following dimensions : Planks length between 1800 and 2200 mm, width between 180 and 220 mm thickness 15 mm; Platforms length between 600 and 1200 mm, width 120 mm, thickness 10-12 mm; Three length strips 600 and 900 mm, width between 70 and 90 mm, thickness 10 mm.
